The Performers –
Kabir Dabholkar
Kabir is a classical guitarist from Bangalore. He started playing guitar at the age of ten and has continued ever since. His interest in music grew considerably, when he participated in the Calcutta International Classical Guitar Festival for the first time, in 2012. He has since had a chance to take part in masterclasses from some of the biggest names in world of guitar. Kabir continues his musical journey side by side with his science studies at IISER Pune.
Kuldeep Barve
After a decade working in the software industry, Kuldeep is now fully focussed on music performance, teaching and all things musical. He plays the guitar in several styles, though his primary oeuvre remains the classical guitar. He has been awarded Grade 8 certificate from Trinity Guildhall. Kuldeep has extended his interests in most areas of guitar playing and has been a part of a well-received folk/blues-fusion ensemble “Sankara”. His initial training in Indian Classical music from his mother and exposure to Jazz has immensely influenced his musical thought. He has designed elementary and intermediate level music and guitar courses for reputed universities in India. He also composes music for films, documentaries and art installations.
Jayant Sankrityayana
While Jayant is primarily a guitarist with parallel interests in jazz and western classical music, he is better known to local jazz audiences as a bassist, usually on the upright version of that instrument. His interests in the ‘modern’ classical guitar, in which he holds an LTCL Recital Diploma, also influence his sparse and fluid approach to jazz improvisation. He is particularly enamoured of the piano trio format, which provides bassists with substantial expressive and textural freedom, and has performed regularly in the past decade. By day, he works as an automotive designer.
